Have TT Practitioners had experience with osteoporosis?

Answer Response comes from M. Simpson, ON

Osteoporosis can be classified as a chronic, progressive condition. As with any of these conditions, we would hope that regular and frequent Therapeutic Touch sessions might delay the progress to some degree. To accomplish this, it would be good to teach TT to someone living with the 'patient'.

There are many medical treatments for this condition. One of course, is calcium supplementation - but we would like to add a word of caution here. Calcium must be absorbed to be effective; it requires a whole list of additional vitamins and minerals to do this, including vitamin D.

Many people are unaware that the use of sunblock and showering within 4 hours of sun exposure can reduce the reduce the body's ability to produce Vitamin D. Experts suggest that we suffer from lack of sunlight, and that we should have 20 minutes exposure without sunblock before 10 am.

Full spectrum lighting over your desk is also said to be beneficial (8 hours apparently equals 15 minutes sun exposure)So if you are prone to osteoporosis (i.e. family history, etc.) check with your carefully chosen nutritionist, your pharmacist and your physician . and your library and health food store for alternative views. The best attack is prevention.
